Our site in Blackpool site has 14,000 sq ft workshop space, serviced by six overhead cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 5 to 30 tonne. We offer delivery to our customers’ sites and on site erection & installation services.

National Nuclear – Uranium Batch Dissolver Vessel

This stainless steel dissolver pressure vessel has been made to the exacting standards required for National Nuclear Laboratory.

A waste stream of uranium contaminated solution is heat treated with acids to recover the waste material.

Heatons Engineering have made an earlier design for this process in which the coil was housed internally. This prototype batch dissolver is the first to feature an external coil in a bid to speed up the cooling process.

Inspector for National Nuclear Kevin Sumner, passed positive comment on the build quality of the product, and has given Heatons the continued approval required to fabricate these high specification vessels.

Welding

Heatons Engineering have a wide range of static and portable welding equipment for carbon steels, stainless steels and aluminium.

As you would expect our welding team are fully trained and coded in GTWW, SMAW and GMAW processes.

Non Destructive Testing

We provide NDT inspection services carrying out Dye Penetrant testing.

We also provide Magnetic Particle and Radiography Services through our approved contractor.
